SASSY Community · Guidelines

A useful community protects dignity, privacy, learning and responsible participation.

These guidelines apply to the current SASSY Community conversation on Telegram and to any later SCP-managed community space that adopts them. They do not replace Telegram's own terms, policies or moderation controls.

Community purpose

A learning and reflection community—not an unrestricted social group.

The community exists to support career learning, reflective development, education, capability-building and responsible contribution. Members may share useful resources, questions, experiences and encouragement when doing so respects the boundaries below.

Participation principles

Think before you post, respond or approach another member.

01

Purpose before posting

Keep contributions connected to career learning, reflection, education, personal development, transferable capability, community learning or responsible contribution.

02

Respect people

Disagree with ideas without insulting, intimidating, stereotyping or targeting the person. Harassment, discrimination, bullying and humiliating content are not acceptable.

03

Protect privacy

Do not share confidential employer or service information, private correspondence, personal documents, passwords, payment details, medical information, case records or identifying information about another person.

04

Do not diagnose or prescribe

Do not present community discussion as medical, therapeutic, legal, financial, safeguarding or emergency advice. Important matters should be taken to an appropriate qualified or responsible service.

05

No unsolicited approaches

Do not privately contact members for sales, recruitment, fundraising, romantic attention, personal favours or other purposes they have not invited.

06

Share responsibly

Do not knowingly post deceptive claims, impersonation, spam, unauthorised copyrighted material or content intended to manipulate, exploit or alarm others.

Young people and safeguarding

Public community participation needs additional care.

Some SCP resources are designed for young people, but a public third-party messaging group is not a confidential youth-support service. Participation must comply with Telegram's current age requirements and any relevant parent, guardian, school, service or safeguarding arrangements.

  • Young people should not post private case details, school records, addresses, contact information or sensitive personal experiences.
  • Adults must not use the community to begin inappropriate private conversations with young people.
  • Members should not promise secrecy when somebody raises a safety or safeguarding concern.
  • Immediate danger, abuse, exploitation or a crisis should be taken to a responsible adult or the appropriate local emergency, safeguarding or professional service—not managed in the group.

Telegram boundary

Joining means using an external platform.

Telegram controls its account system, platform security, technical processing, privacy settings and service terms. SCP does not receive your Telegram password or automatically receive the private information held in your Telegram account.

Other group members may see the profile information and messages that Telegram makes visible under your settings. Review your phone-number, username, profile-photo, forwarding and direct-message settings before participating.

Moderation

Moderation should be proportionate, documented and connected to the stated purpose.

1

Notice

A moderator may clarify the guideline, correct a route or ask for content to be edited or removed.

2

Restrict

Posting permissions may be limited while a concern is reviewed or where repeated disruption continues.

3

Remove

Content or a member may be removed when behaviour conflicts with the community purpose or creates avoidable risk.

4

Escalate

A serious safeguarding, legal, security or platform concern may be referred through the appropriate responsible channel.

Moderators may act immediately where content appears to create a serious safety, privacy, legal, exploitation or platform-security concern. Membership is not an entitlement to post any content or remain in the group regardless of conduct.

Raise a concern

Use the safest available route.

For ordinary group concerns, contact a Telegram group administrator and avoid repeating sensitive material publicly. For a privacy, governance or formal SCP concern, contact SCP through the published route.
